Welcome to Year Four!

We are Eagle and Penguin class. Throughout the academic year we will cover an exciting range of topics from the Ancient Egyptians to the Anglo-Saxons. We will immerse ourselves in imaginary worlds and then ground ourselves in scientific investigation, looking at states of matter, electricity and living things.  

There will be a great importance placed on reading this year. We will encourage children to choose stimulating and challenging books. Maths will focus on the four main operations (+, -, ÷, ×) place value, fractions and decimals.

Mastering the times tables is a focus in Year 4. There is a statutory assessment in Summer each year, where the children take an on-screen test designed to determine whether they can fluently recall their multiplication tables up to 12, through a set of timed questions. We will do lots of practice to prepare for this.  

We also have a 2-night residential planned in the Summer term, filled with a range of fun, outdoors activities.
